What do you want for your life right now? Is it producing more income for you? Do you crave more time with family and friends? Or is your life just full of distractions and entertainment?
If you have a passion for sports, I invite you to reflect.
Don’t misunderstand. I’m not saying that you need to like sports less or more than you already do. Sports are just an example. I’m not a big fan of watching sports. But I did something similar with Netflix.
First, I wanted to improve my English skills. So, I decided to watch programs in English only, a common trick for anyone that is learning a new language. And for me, it wasn’t very comforting. But I did.
Additionally, I wanted to improve my physical activity level. So, I started to do workouts on my mini stepper while simultaneously watching series on Netflix.
Healthy? Check. English? Check again. Fun? For sure!
Let’s get back to the sports example. A friend of mine uses his soccer ritual to do networking. And how difficult it is to gather a horde of Brazilian executives hungry to see rich young guys kicking a ball while discussing the pleasures of an ale? Not at all! :-)
Flávio Augusto, the owner of Orlando City Soccer Club, maybe is one of the top successful examples of how to mix his passion with a business opportunity.
With the resurgence of meditation in the West, I guess that sports can be a more effortless mindful experience. But, only if you can shut down that experience after the game.
Once, I watched an entire game on a treadmill. It was two hours running “together” with the players. My team lost. My belly too.
So, how could you enjoy your hobby? Do you prefer to burn your inheritance with bets? Do you watch alone or with your kids? Binging on a sofa or breaking a sweat? Have you tried to sell anything with your team brand? Or how can you use your lovely time to improve your career?
I cheer for you.
